Meeting new Beekeepers

Rain and 40° F today with no signs of clearing. The Maples are blooming. I think that every living thing is waiting for warm and sunny weather.

I’m mentoring some new beekeepers this morning to discuss what equipment I find useful and review what plans they have for beekeeping. I had hoped the weather would be better and we would be able to open a few hives. Maybe next time.

Mentoring is a part of the local Club’s outreach program. Everyone who takes the class is assigned a mentor for the first year. It has been very well received by most new beekeepers and can be a way to meet great new people.

Of course beekeepers are the best!
