March in the pollen

Or fly it in!

Early March is not the month that most of us think of blooming flowers. I visit my bees any time I think the day is warn enough for flight activity. The winter months are normally just bees doing their thing just like me – getting out into some sun and warmth. I look forward to the first evidence that brood is starting back from the winter slow down. This past week was the first time this year that I observed bees bringing in pollen. It was several different colors so I am reasonably sure it came from plants, not my protein feeder. The feeder was also empty, adding to my conviction that the real stuff was available. I filled the feeder with substitute protein. I provide any help I can.
